Steering Committee Chair & Subcommittee Chairs:
Mike Carey is PROPEL’s current Steering Committee Chairperson. Mike is the
National Account Coordinator for Tranzon Auction Properties, a real estate accelerated marketing and auction company. Mike is also a licensed Maine Associate Broker for TAP Realty Solutions. A 1997 graduate of Wheaton College in Norton, MA, Mike currently lives in Portland. One of the initial steering committee members, Mike is involved in a variety of local and national community and business organizations including Maine Handicap Skiing and the National Auctioneers Association. A New Hampshire native, Mike moved to Portland in 2000 and couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. Previously Mike has held a variety of positions in Maine, including for the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School, the Sterling Rope Company, and Maine Medical Center.
Mary Warren is the Chair of PROPEL’s
Marketing Subcommittee Mary has been with Pro Search, Inc. since 2004 as a Senior Recruiter. Mary specializes in Sales, Marketing, Accounting, Finance and Human Resources recruitment for Pro Search. Mary is a Maine native and has her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of New Hampshire. She previously worked for Unum in their Corporate Recruiting department. Mary is on the Board of Directors for the Portland Chapter of the March of Dimes. She is a Certified Personnel Consultant and a member of the National Association of Personnel Services.
June L Usher is Chair of PROPEL’s Events Subcommittee. June is an Assistant Branch Manager for the Portland Branch of Bangor Savings Bank. Bangor Savings Bank (BSB) is the largest Maine based community bank with over 50 branches located throughout the state. BSB offers a full range of personal and business products designed to meet all of your financial needs. June previously worked for MBNA/Bank of America as an Assistant Manager/Trainer and also worked for the Savings Bank of Danbury in Newtown, CT as a Branch Operations Manager. A Kennebunk, Maine native June is a graduate from the University of Maine, Orono with a BA in Communications. She is currently taking courses at Marist College, Poughkeepsie, New York towards her Master’s in Organizational Communication and Leadership.
Susan J. Pye is former chair of PROPEL and founding member of the organization. Susan is a financial advisor with Merrill Lynch, currently residing in Portland, Maine. Susan is activ
e with the Portland Chamber and is a member of Blueberry Hill Toastmasters. She has been active in BigBrothers Big Sisters of Greater Portland and Southern Midcoast Maine.
Rhiana Lippold is the Chair of PROPEL’s Sponsorship Subcommittee. Rhiana
works for Pro Search, Inc. She joined the firm in 2003 as Manager, Temporary Staffing Services. Pro Search is a local recruiting and staffing firm. At Pro Search, Rhiana is responsible for interviewing and placing temporary candidates as well as client management. Rhiana is a Portland native and has her bachelor’s degree in Marketing from St. Bonaventure University in New York. She previously worked at Pierce Promotions as Manager of the Recruitment Department and at Wright Express as a Human Resource Specialist. Rhiana has been active on the steering committee of PROPEL in Portland since 2006 and an active member of the Business Partnership Council for Allies Inc. Rhiana also is a participant in the annual "Mission Transition" program that Goodwill hosts annually in support of educating and assisting youths with disabilities, aged 14-25, as they transition into adulthood. She is a Certified Temporary Staffing Specialist and a member of the National Association of Personnel Services.
James Chalmers is the Chair of PROPEL’s
Educational Subcommittee. Jim is an Account Executive and Manager for The Chalmers Group, an independent Insurance and Real Estate Agency with offices in Maine and New Hampshire. Chalmers’ agency is a full service insurance agency with the capability to write home, auto, and business policies. Jim specializes in Boys and Girls Summer Camps, Campgrounds, RV Parks, Ski Areas and residential real estate. He is involved in the following committees around Maine including: Co-Chair of the Young Agents Committee, part of the Independent Insurance Agents Association for Maine, Committee Member for RealizeME!, Loss Control Board Member for the Pine Tree Council, the Maine Council for the Boy Scouts of America, Committee Member. Jim is a Maine native, growing up in the Lake Region Area. After graduating from Bowdoin College he spent several years in Boston working for an insurance company before deciding to move back to Maine. An avid Skier, Jim considers himself a skiing nomad call no one ski area his home base.
